Ball Hockey
The Washington Capitals Ball Hockey Platform expands access to hockey by offering affordable, off‑ice entry points for youth in the D.C. area. Through two signature initiatives, local kids can learn the fundamentals of the game and gain exposure to the sport in a fun, safe environment.

Try Hockey for Free Clinics
- Ages 5-17
- Cost: FREE!
- What's included:
- Introduction to stickhandling, passing, and shooting
- All players take home a straight-blade stick and ball to keep
- The goal of this program is to remove the financial and logistical barriers to hockey, giving families a no-risk way to discover hockey
- Fun, safe, and education environment!
Sticks & Sneakers Learn to Play
- Ages 5-14
- Cost: $25.00 per class
- Registration on a class-by-class basis
- What's included:
- Next-step programming to build foundational ball hockey skills and confidence for first-time players after Try Hockey for Free
- All equipment is provided during class for no extra charge
- Participants take home a program t-shirt
